What does Nolvadex do?

Tamoxifen citrate competes over the estrogen receptors in target cells, this way making estrogen ineffective. This action reduces estrogen-sensitive tumours in women, and breast, or other feminine tissues (gynecomastia), in men.

Nolvadex is a non-steroidal compound which competitively inhibits estrogen receptors in its target organs (and/or estrogen-sensitive tumors); when present in cell nuclei, tamoxifen citrate-receptor-co-factor complexes prevent hypertrophy (overgrowth) of estrogen-sensitive cells.

How does Nolvadex work?

Once in the body, tamoxifen citrate is broken down into compounds that bind estrogen receptors without activating them: estrogen activity is blocked (reduced negative feedback inhibition) in pituitary and hypothalamus, allowing this drug to increase follicle-stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone in the male body.

How should Nolvadex be taken?

Doctor’s directions or prescription label should be followed at all times. Prescribed dose or dosing regimen should not be altered without consulting a doctor first. Dosing regimen depends on the severity of condition; long term treatment course (approximately 2 years) is advised.

Tamoxifen citrate can be used either in a single dose or divided in two, taking one half in the morning and one in the evening; can be taken with or without food but with plenty (full glass) of water; do not chew or crush.
