It stimulates β2 adrenergic receptors causing relaxation of smooth muscle fibres and is used as a bronchodilator and tocolytic; Spiropent can also increase fat metabolism by acting on β3 receptors in the adipose tissue. It can also be used by athletes with exercise-induced pulmonary hemorrhage (EIPH), as a post cycle therapy drug after a steroid cycle (no association with androgenic side effects) or as an aid for weight/fat loss without losing muscle mass or body strength.
Clenbuterol is a stimulant and a thermogenic drug – it exhibits dose-dependent effects on multiple organs throughout the body: it can stimulate central nervous system and promote a significant increase in oxygen transportation, aerobic capacity and blood pressure. It can increase BMR by acting on β3 receptors in the adipose tissue and increasing lipolysis (fat metabolism) thus can considerably reduce abdominal and visceral fat. In addition, spiropent stimulates muscle growth and can improve protein storage in muscle fibres. It exhibits a rapid bronchial-dilating action: stimulates bronchial-mucosa cells, this way enhancing expectoration.
Spiropent possesses a pronounced action on the metabolism in the organism, comparable to that of anabolic drugs: reduction of protein degradation in muscle cells, leading to an increase in muscle bulk and muscle strength as well as an enhanced metabolism of mast cells. Short-term effects are similar to that of amphetamine or ephedrine: an increase in the levels of heart rate, perspiration, blood pressure, and temperature.
Clenbuterol is absorbed easily and remains in the body for 25-40 hours; therefore the positive effects are prolonged. It stimulates beta-2 adrenergic receptors throughout the body causing relaxation of smooth muscle fibres; this results in lung spasm reduction. Additional effects include increased perspiration, raised body temperature, increased heart rate, and raised blood pressure. This drug also acts on beta-3 receptors in the adipose (fat) tissue promoting fat breakdown.
Contraindications: Use in children; breastfeeding women; pregnant or women who may get pregnant whilst undergoing treatment; patients with allergies to the active or any of the inactive ingredients; patients with history of heart disease: congestive heart failure, ischemic heart disease, myocardial infarction, hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy, tachycardia, tachyarrhythmia; people with history of high blood pressure, thyroid disease, glaucoma, prostatic hypertrophy, and urinary retention.
Other less common side effects include skin rash, facial edema, angina pains, and paradoxical bronchial spasm; thrombopenia, hypoglycemia and micturition disturbances.
